Selection of a right name for business is the foundation for building a brand. Business name has to be impressive and needs to create an impact on people, when they hear it. The financial success of a business organization highly depends on how well an entrepreneur selects its name.

If a business name sounds good, then potential consumers will locate the brand, identify it and buy the products from the same company eventually. If the name selection is poor, it creates negative influence on consumers and suppliers, ultimately hurting the business.

Think about phrases and related words that evoke the feelings that individuals imagine. First, hit the thesaurus and then find the synonyms for the phrases and words. Search for the Latin and Greek translations of the words. Figure out which gemstones, animals and colors relate to the words. Experimentation: Begin playing with the combination of partial and assorted words. Just make a list and do not get judgmental. Reflect: Try to review the list and give a thought to every name. Communicate: Get over the list with someone, who is trustworthy. Simply tell that what each name implies and how impressive do they think it is. Prioritization: – Remove those stuffs or words that do not fit, instead prepare a prioritized list of the remaining. Check trademarks: Ensure that no one uses the same name in the line of business. Although, entrepreneurs may use the name in a completely different business, they need to be aware that it might confuse both the parties. Check the domain names: Individuals need to ensure the availability of appropriate domain name. In case there is no domain name in the title of the company, then search the net for an appropriate one.

Important Tips:

Try to avoid generic titles depending on names such as Sam’s Hardware and Joe’s Bar. They are not memorable and quite impossible to trademark. Avoid names that literally describe the service or product such as Appliance Sales and Service and Computer consulting company to name a few.

Also, avoid geographical names. The name also need not restrict future service lines or product. Individuals need to be broad enough for including extreme long-term vision for business. Lastly, try to keep the name short for easy pronunciation.

Catchy Business Names are a sure fired way to get your Business noticed in a world brimming with competition. You need to use every trick up your sleeve to be the one that stands out in your chosen field.

Making the decision on what to name your business can be extremely frustrating. You could pay a sum of money for someone to come up with a name for you, but I feel your business name represents you as a person, just like your business does, and it should be something that you choose and feel right about!

Step 1. This is the most important step. You will need to decide if your business is going to stay with the product / service that you are currently providing or if you may, at a later date expand / add or change that range.

The reason I say this is because you will not want to change your name further down the road because the name you chose initially no longer reflects the business you have built and expanded on.

Example: You start selling designer socks and you choose a catchy business name around socks. You then decide to expand and sell other underwear ranges, your business name will not reflect the other products you sell, and this will confuse your market.

Step 2. Write down all the names you can think of that describes your business.

Example: Use different words like underwear / lingerie etc.

Step 3. This is where your business names ideas start forming. Go to Google and type in keyword selector tool. This will take you to a site where you can enter the keywords on your generated list and it will give you a list of related terms to your keyword.

The list also tells you how many people are searching for that term. This is a great indicator of the popularity of that term.

Step 4. Take a term that you like the sound of and put a spin on it. Catchy business names can be funny, unusual, weird, funky or just ‘different’ to the norm. Write down all the ideas you have and jumble them around. Use misspells. People always remember those! Miss letters out, e.g. ‘R’ instead of ‘are’.
Be inventive and step outside your comfort zone.

Step 5. Run the list you have finalised by a number of family and friends. Get a census together of the most popular names. You will probably find they will come up with some great ideas to add to your list.

The legal and trade names of the business should be registered with the state of its operation. To receive an application to register the name of the business, you may contact the department in your state that handles this service. For example, in the State of Maryland, the Department of Assessment and Taxation offers this service. You should fill out an application and mail it to the appropriate office in your state with a check or money order for the required fees.

Before you fill out the application to register the business name, you may want to call and check on the availability of the name that you have chosen. Find out if any other business is using the name in your area (or even in another part of the country). Many offices are now computerized, someone may be able to quickly check the name on the computer and let you know immediately whether that name is already being used by another business in that state. If you have access to the Internet, you may be able to check on the name availability yourself. However, all state offices do not provide the name availability computerized service. If this name is not being used by another business, then the state will allow you to register and use the name that you have chosen as the legal name for your business. To register, simply fill out the required paperwork and submit it to the appropriate office.

Do a trademark search to find out if the name is registered as a trademark. You may contact a professional trademark company to do the search or you can do it yourself on your personal computer. Remember, do not use famous names.

is another great reason to keep debt out of your own
name when possible.

—some business credit cards will lock down your line
of credit during the first month you start using it while
they wait for you to make the first payment. So if you
think you will need all the cash before the first monthly
payment is made, just take all the cash out at once
when you get the card.

—and my favorite way to use these cards that no
one else talks about is to transfer an existing personal
credit card balance onto a new business card you just
received.

You can call up the bank that issues you a brand new
business credit card and tell them you want to make a
balance transfer. Then you can give them the account
number for one of your maxed out personal credit cards
and they will put that debt into the business credit card.

This is the best way to make your personal debt
disappear from public records and improve your personal
credit score!!!

Of course you must still pay this debt back the same
as if it was still in your personal name. But when it’s
on your business credit card it’s invisible and your credit
score will jump up!

A business card is a small “calling card” which advertises a business or service offered. Information found on a business card includes the business name, individual contact person, and various ways to contact the service provider, including address and telephone numbers. Today, business cards also include email addresses and web site information.

Paralegals communicate with many people. Often, an attorney’s clients will stay in regular contact with his paralegal. This is because a legal assistant is generally more accessible than the attorney and can be depended on to route important information between the two.

When a paralegal meets with a new client to gather pertinent information it is usually the first contact that client has had with the firm and that employee. Handing them a business card at meeting’s end is a professional touch. Clients appreciate having easy access to telephone numbers and even the paralegal’s name. Often the circumstances that led them to an attorney’s office are unsettling. They might not initially recall names easily, so a business card takes out the guess work. That business card is also a small, comforting link to the help they need.

I highly recommend that paralegals have their own business cards. These can be prepared by a printing company, or prepared on blank business cards and run through a laser printer. Another option if a boss would prefer their own business cards used by the paralegal – prepare small mailing labels with the paralegal’s name, direct phone extension and business email address, and affix the labels to the back of the firm cards.
