Here are seven areas to consider when trying to determine which business is right for you. You should sit down with pen and paper and examine these experiences by making a list in the following categories:

1) School experience – What was your favorite subject in school? What did your school teacher say about your talents and capabilities? You may not realize it but you have some background in certain subject areas that you can use to run your own business. Let’s evaluate some of your classes to see what experiences we can gather from the courses that you took while in school. You may have a lot of training in areas such as interior decorating, computers, accounting, catering, auto mechanic, and photography. Now would you like to start a business in any of these areas?

2) Work experience – What jobs have you held either currently or in the past that you enjoy? You can use the skills from these jobs to run your own business. Review your evaluations for your strengths that may be transferable to your business. You are probably doing something unique that no one else is better at doing than you. If so, why not establish your own business offering this same type of service. Do you have cooking experience? Why not establish your own catering business. Do you like working in sales? Then choose a product that you would like to sell to the public and offer it in your business.

3) Money – Does money matter when starting a business? The answer is “Yes, money matters.” If you have the amount of money you need to invest in a business, you are more likely to be successful in it. Having enough money to finance the business is a major factor in the success of the business.

4) Interests and hobbies – Knowing your likes and dislikes is helpful in choosing the right business. What are your hobbies? Examine your hobbies to see if any of them can be turned into a business. For instance, if you like working with plants and arranging flowers as a hobby, you can probably start a flower shop. This way you can do what you enjoy and get paid for it.

5) Volunteer – Where have you volunteered your time and service in the past? What did you like most about it and what did you learn from it? Examine the places where you did volunteer work to see what you gain from it and whether or not you want to turn this experience into a business venture.

6) Skills – Try to get enough skills so that you will not make fatal mistakes that could cost you a lot of money later as the business progresses. Once the business is started, you can hire other people who have the skills and strengths that you lack. Most managers do not come into the business with knowledge and experience in all areas of the business.

7) Personal skills and experiences – Certain skills and experiences are critical to the success of a business. Since it is unlikely that you possess all the skills and experiences needed, you’ll need to hire personnel to supply those you lack. There are some basic and special skills you will need for your particular business.

By: Dr. Mary E. Waters

Opportunities for doing business can increase if your values match the values which your customer holds. So what are the best ways for doing business through relationships? Here is the list of the ten best ways that I have come across through my own and others personal experience:
Always listen to the other person Give away information that will help the other person in writing Dress professionally Have a business card that is not homemade Provide many ways to contact you including your web address and email Have a nice looking website with good content Always answer your emails and queries promptly Create touch points that are meaningful Build the relationship before trying to sell Be focuses on your expertise and do not try to be everything

Your message must be clear and concise yet it must create an excitement about what you have to say and what services you provide. The next topic will give you a list of the best ways to create that excitement.

The first point is always the most difficult for people as we all have a tendency to want to talk about our own business and what is happening within our own world. I always remember the sales folks I want to avoid because they cannot stop talking about how great their product is. I could not care less about the product, what I want is what can that product do for me and how can it help to solve my problems.

By: Bette Daoust, Ph.D.

A business card is usually a piece of paper containing the name, address, and contact information of the person giving the card. Information contained on this piece of paper also includes the business name or the company affiliations of the giver.

Business cards are now seen as a means of advertisement or marketing. This allows previous customers to easily recall a company and do business with them again. Because of this, employees of companies, especially marketing executives, look for a means to be able to produce business cards that are professional and eye-catching at a reasonable price.

This need for business cards brought about a new category of printing, which is business card printing. Companies typically want uniform business cards for their employees. These business cards contain the company’s logo along with the company motto. At first, business cards were printed in black and white. But as the business world dominated people’s lives, the demand for business cards grew, resulting in color printing. Alongside this development in business card printing was the emergence of more sophisticated designs, graphics, and styles for business cards.

Business cards are typically printed on a 1/8 size of print paper. People who want their own business cards can now choose to have a colored business card with a full-color back or a colored print with a back in black and white. The development of digital printing greatly improved the quality of prints. The coating added to business cards, which leaves a shiny finish, is another improvement in business card printing.

The developments in business card printing, however, have resulted in several setbacks. For example, there has been a growing number of fraud cases wherein customers are duped into believing the authenticity of a company’s business because of the good quality of business cards given to them.

By: Seth Miller

Business cards are described as “promotional text containing a person’s name, job title, business address, and contact numbers, usually printed on small rectangular pieces of thin cardboard or stiff paper, and measuring 3-4 inches in length and 2 inches in width.”

Customized stationeries and business cards are means to sell your business or promote your business to prospective customers. Believe it or not, personalized business cards can help your company’s growth not just externally but also internally. You could create good rapport with your employees through these cards.

How so? If you provide every person working for you with his own business cards, he would feel his importance as an employee of your company. The personnel would therefore be motivated to work on their sales and you’ll have one huge workforce working on handing out cards to potential clients.

You have to create a business card that is sort of like a smaller version of a business print ad campaign. And since this is the case, don’t even think about creating a business card using plain white cardboard ordinary black ink. Those types of cards are so ‘yesterday’. They will not have any impact on people; therefore, your business will have very few, if not zero, clients. What you need to do is:

1. Choose uncommon or unique colors, fonts, and messages for your business card.

2. Remember to include not just your business’ name and logo but also other important details. Add, too, relevant information such as your company name and contact details. It is also encouraged that if you have an 800 phone line, include it in your business card as well.

3. Write your company’s description in more than 5 words. This will make potential clients remember what is it your company does exactly.

4. You may also put an emphasis on the particular services of your business.

5. Make your cards legible. Do not mess them up.

6. Most importantly, create your own trademark. This is what will set you apart from all the other businesses similar to yours.

When handing out business cards:

1. Hand them out right away but only when the timing is appropriate.

2. Always remember to carry with you at least three business cards in your purse or wallet. You’ll never know who you’re going to bump into.

Bear in mind that handing out business cards is a two-way street. If you provide someone with your personalized business card and request his/her card in return, you will be provided with something to remember him by, but what’s more important that he can get hold of you whenever he needs to!

3 Reasons Why People Don’t Have to Worry in Creating Their Own Business Cards

There are many printing companies that offer cheap services for business cards creation. With the different services and options offered, people don’t have to worry about the quality of the prints. Clients can opt to choose templates and let a printing company do the job, or can create personalized business cards by uploading digital files online. Here are the three reasons why people don’t have to worry in creating their own business cards.

Affordability

An individual client can get assured that he or she can create a cheap business card through an online printing company. Clients don’t have to worry because some printing services offer quality printed cards at affordable prices. Cheap business card printing is ideal for businesses and individual clients who have a limited budget at hand.

Printing Quote

A client can browse a printing company’s website to search for printing quote or estimated price. With this, potential customers will be able to know how much money is needed for a specific printing project. Customers must not be worried that a certain printing company will charge them more than their printing budget. With printing quotes, clients will have the idea of how much they will be spending in creating business cards.

Design and Customization

Potential Customers don’t have to worry if they are not expert in designing business cards. They can always opt to create and customize their prints, with the help of online design experts from a reliable printing company. Clients will just have to upload their files through a printing company’s website, and printing experts will evaluate the images before the printing process. On the other hand, a business card sample can be viewed online by a customer. A client can choose among the different business card design templates offered by an online printing company.

With these options available, people will find it easy and affordable to create their own business cards. Furthermore, clients will be encouraged to boost their creativity in designing their own business cards online.

Business cards can be a very personal kind of marketing, and can act as an extension of yourself in a way most other marketing isn’t capable of achieving.

Even if you work for a large company you can still be designing your own business card, which means that your card is going to be a reflection of you and your tastes. With the rise in custom business cards this becomes even more pressing of a concern and a bigger presence in the marketplace. The less personality your card contains the less personality people might start to attribute to you, and that can kill a lot of future sales.

This connection between yourself and your business card is only made more significant by the fact that you are very likely to actually be there when handing out your cards. You will be personally placing that card into a person’s hand, and when they first see your card it might even be after a conversation they just had with you.

This means your business card will be affected by what you’ve been saying and what impression a person has of you. If your business card is particularly plain or boring and they were expecting something a little more interesting, it might harm their impression of you.

On the reverse side of things if you hand them a very interesting custom business card I can bet you the first thing they’ll do is look right back up at you, their opinion of you now altered by the card you gave them.

This is the power of strong color business cards when put to good use. You affect your card and your card affects you. Each can help make up for something lacking in the other, but only to an extent. If your card is particularly poorly put together you might very well lose a sale no matter how good of an impression you just made.

Your goal needs to be to make sure that both you and your full color business cards are up to the task and good at grabbing attention. You want to wow people with your first interaction and first impression on them, only to then surprise them again by giving them a very unique business card they’ve never seen before.

This helps you to build upon your first good impression and leave them walking away impressed by what they saw. If you can accomplish that than you can be certain that they’re going to be that much more likely to call you up later. If nothing else you’ve ensured that when they look at your card in the future, they’ll remember who it gave it to them, which is a very nice thing. The first step towards accomplishing this is understanding just how important the business card can be.

Business cards are essential tools in today’s business world. Without having business cards, companies run the risk of getting beaten by the competition. Here are several ways of making sure that we not only get quality business cards but also save on the costs of producing them.

1. Checking an online printer’s website can help us gauge if we can save money or not. Most, if not all, online printing sites give specific quotes for their prices. These applications can help in choosing which online printer to help in producing business cards.

2. By reading reviews from various sources with regards to an online printer’s service can also help us. These reviews provide tips not only in pointing out the good points for an online printer but also give tips in how consumers can save more from promos and discounts offered by online printing companies.

3. Getting cheap business cards are also easy if consumers take advantage of the various programs and promos that companies place on their websites. Some promos include major discounts as much as 50% off on printing highly customized business cards.

4. People can also save money for printing their business cards by trying to create their own personalized business cards. This will be the most practical way however it is recommended for people with free time. People on the go would hardly have the time to create their own business cards.

Of course, these are only a few ways of saving money for printing business cards. Customers should also be wary of cheap business cards that are inferior as some crafty online printers often produce poor quality business cards for their customers. It is better to look for an online printer that offers top quality prints at affordable prices.

Business cards give any company an immediate sense of authenticity. It seems that everyone is carrying them around these days. If it’s not for an actual business, then it’s a personal card to make it easier to share contact information with friends and family.

Digital printing has made business cards accessible to everyone. Companies (or individuals) with a low budget can purchase pre-cut blank cards to design and print out on the home computer. There are even companies that provide designed cards that only need your own information printed on them.

Business cards are a great, compact way of advertising your goods and services. You can place them around town where other businesses allow the display. You can send them easily in all your correspondence. You can even make an electronic email (in the signature section of your server) that will be attached to all your outgoing mail.

With so many business cards floating around, you have to find a way to make yours stand out in the crowd. Use the back of the card to put some important information (game schedule, emergency numbers, or a miniature map) or use it to place a coupon for services.

If you aren’t comfortable printing or designing your own business cards, most office supply stores offer that service. There are even some great companies online that give you a high volume for a low cost. The cost of the cards usually includes a design that is formatted through the company website.

Business cards are becoming an important statement for any company. Before you open your doors, take the time to develop your business cards. If things change with your business (address, phone numbers, etc.), it will be easier and less expensive to change your cards around compared to just a few years ago. The digital age is making everything easier – especially for the small business.

By: Kathryn Lang

As technology marches forward people are given a greater freedom in what they’re able to achieve on their own computers. There are all kinds of different graphic design programs out there that give people the ability to design some outstanding looking advertisements whenever they want to.

It used to be that if you wanted to get anything done in regards to graphic design you needed to hire someone else out to do it for you before putting in your color printing order. This led to potential issues with when the project would actually be completed, and forced people to pair up various schedules to make sure things could be done on time.

My point here is that while it may not be your normal thing, there’s no reason not to try your hand at some basic design work. The business card is one of the best forms of advertising to start out on.

There are plenty of programs for you to choose from, such as InDesign or Adobe Photoshop. Take a look at the features all of the different programs offer and try to find one that works best for you.

Once you have that out of the way the time comes to start designing.

But the real question that still needs to be answered is why should you bother to design it yourself? I’ve mentioned the issue with conflicting schedules and other potential problems, but that’s not the really important reason to design your own business cards.

A business card is one of the most personal forms of advertising you will ever create. This isn’t the same as a poster or a brochure. Other forms of advertising are going to be more about the company and less about an individual person. But when you hand someone a business card, quite often you are there in person doing it. The way they view you is going to impact how they view that business card and vise versa.

You want there to be a strong bond between you and the card you’re handing out, because the more unique business cards are going to be the ones people notice, and quite often the unique ones are also the personal business cards. Someone took the time to say, “This is what I want with my card and I’m going to make sure I get it,” and people can tell when looking at the card.

You need to take pride in your business card, and it’s always easier to take pride in something you made yourself. A lot of business cards don’t need to be the most advanced forms of graphic designing. While a lot of other forms of color printing might be beyond your expertise, that doesn’t mean you can’t design a great business card.

The next time you hand someone a card, make sure you’re handing them something that means a lot to you.

For comments and inquiries about the article visit: Color Printing

By: Charen Smith
